A three year Co-operation Agreement between The Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia (IAMA) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in the United Kingdom.
To establish linkage and co-operation to maximize the utilization of their resources through mutual cooperation and sharing of expertise and efforts in education, training and promotion, to advance the practice of construction and construction law for the benefit of their members and the industry. This Memorandum of Understanding is limited to the States and Territories of Australia, to develop opportunities resulting from joint activities, reciprocal arrangements for seminars, conferences and events. The MOU was signed by Professor Li Shirong, President Chartered Institute of Building and Hon. Michael Kirby, President Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia.
A three year Co-operation Agreement between the Society of Construction Law Australia (SCLA) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in the United Kingdom.
To establish linkage and co-operation to maximize the utilization of their resources through mutual cooperation and sharing of expertise and efforts in education, training and promotion, to advance the practice of construction and construction law for the benefit of their members and the industry. To establish linkages and co-operation with each other to maximise the utilisation of their resources, through mutual cooperation and sharing of expertise, and efforts in education, training and promotion, to advance the practice of project management, construction and construction law for the benefit of their members and the industry. This Memorandum of Understanding will assist in developing opportunities resulting from joint activities, reciprocal arrangements for seminars, conferences and events. The MOU was signed by Professor Li Shirong, President Chartered Institute of Building and Steve Meintjes, Chairman PMI Australian Property Chapters, Ian Wolfe, President Sydney Chapter, Ms Rina Brettell, President Melbourne Chapter and Kenneth Farnes, President Canberra Chapter.
A three year Co-operation Agreement between The Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in the United Kingdom.
To establish linkage and co-operation and thus maximize the utilization of their resources through mutual cooperation and sharing of expertise and efforts in education, training and promotion, to raise the profile and recognition of professional management in construction and projects for the benefit of the industry, its clients and society at large. The MOU was signed by Professor Li Shirong, President Chartered Institute of Building and Dr Bill Young, National President of the Australian Institute of Project Management.
China
MINISTRY OF CONSTRUCTION CHINA (MoCC)
A six year Co-operation Agreement between Department of Education Personnel and Labour of Ministry of Construction (DOEPL, MOC) of the People’s Republic of China and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) of the United Kingdom.
To enhance the quality of the Construction Management education and profession in China to a level that can be accredited at an international standard. The CIOB will support the DOEPL of MoC to establish an accreditation system in Construction Management. The China Accreditation Board of Construction Management (CABCM) and the CIOB Recognition of Awards Division (ROAD) will be developed to achieve an education standard that is internationally recognised.
CHINA STATE CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERS (CSCEC)
A three year Co-operation Agreement between the China State Construction Engineers (CSCEC) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
A Training Centre has been established to introduce a new formula that enables construction professionals in China to achieve Charter Member (MCIOB) of the CIOB. The Training Centre is the only management organisation to qualify CSCEC employees as MCIOB. Every applicant from CSCEC wanting to join the CIOB must be recommended by the Training Centre.
This is an executive organisation with an office within China Construction Personal Centre and produces training manuals, teaching schedules along with implementation plans for academic seminars, overseas visits, academic exchanges and start suitable training classes for professionals who have different qualifications and experience.
A Co-operation Committee has been established to manage, research and determine the direction of projects and annual planning. This Committee is a non-executive organisation and consists of seven members, three from CSCEC, three from CIOB HQ and one from CIOB China. The Directors of the Committee are Mr Zhang Qinglin, Executive Vice President of CSCEC and Mr Michael Brown, Executive Director of CIOB.
NATIONAL BOARD OF CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT ACCREDITATION (NBCMA)
An ongoing Recognition Agreement between the National Board of Construction Management Accreditation (NBCMA) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Both parties mutually accept each other’s accredited Construction Management degree courses and accept that the knowledge and competence of graduates have equivalent status. Graduates from accredited courses shall have comparable academic status when applying for registration as a Registered Constructor in the People’s Republic of China and when applying for Chartered Member in the UK only when the accreditation is valid.

A three year Co-operation Agreement between the Research Centre for International Construction Contract, Tianjin University and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Close collaboration of Tianjin University and the CIOB will enable both sides to share advantages in improving Chinese project management levels and the competitiveness in the global market so as to demonstrate the development of Chinese contractors. Also, the cooperation will help both sides to expand their international and domestic impacts in the construction industry.
SHUI ON LAND LIMITED
A three year Co-operation Agreement between the Shui On Land Limited and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
By mutual agreement, Shui On Land Limited and CIOB will exchange information, funding, knowledge and experts concerning construction management, technology and research through websites, publications, media and exhibitions, seminars, conferences.
CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (CPMC)
A three year Co-operation Agreement between the Construction Project Management Committee (CPMC) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
By mutual agreement, CPMC and CIOB will exchange information, funding, knowledge and experts concerning construction management, technology and research through websites, publications, media and exhibitions, seminars, conferences.
Hong Kong
HONG KONG INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERS (HKIE)
An ongoing Dual Membership Agreement between the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
The Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) are senior professional institutions with a common interest in raising standards of professionalism within the construction industry. The HKIE is fully recognised by the Government of the HKSAR and through international reciprocity agreements by authorities under the Engineers Mobility Forum Agreement and the Washington Accord; the CIOB is incorporated by Royal Charter in the UK, with membership in over 90 countries, is recognised under the EU and through international reciprocity agreements.
Each institute has significant membership in Hong Kong and accredits university courses in Hong Kong to equivalent standards. The HKIE and the CIOB have exchanged information on their individual procedures, policies, criteria and requirements for granting membership and have agreed that these are substantially equivalent.
By this Agreement the HKIE and the CIOB establish reciprocal recognition of requirements for membership.
